The West Rouge Soccer Club not only provides recreational soccer activities, but also offers programs for those players who are committed and dedicated about furthering their participation in the game. Our Elite Development Program is for girls and boys between the ages of 8 through 11 and is comprised of separate male and female teams in each of these age groups. Elite teams train more intensively throughout the summer and winter months, generally holding practices two to four times per week. They play in separate Select or competitive leagues against teams from other clubs and districts. West Rouge Elite teams also represent WRSC at various tournaments and festivals sanctioned by the Ontario Soccer Association.
Beginning at age 12, players can be assessed for a position on a Representative Team for competitive play. West Rouge has teams playing in both the Central Soccer League (CSL) for the boys, and Central Girls Soccer League (CGSL) for the girls. We also have two teams playing in the highest league in the province, the Ontario Youth Soccer League. These leagues fall under the "Pyramid of Play" as set out by the Ontario Soccer Association (OSA), and can provide exposure to higher levels for talented participants which can result in selection for Regional, Provincial and National programs - as well as scholarship opportunities.
Within the past few years, many West Rouge players have achieved appointments to some of these higher levels of play having come through our development programs. Some recent significant postings have included the professional signing of Jaimie Peters to Ipswich F.C. of the English Nationwide League, and Robin Rushton's scholarship acceptance at the West Virginia University. We are proud to have been a part of these, and many other soccer players, flourishing athletic careers.
